Five Signs of a High-Quality Website
You know, things like content, videos, and images are all important when it comes to a great website, but there has to be more to it, right? Right!!
We want your website to be high-quality! High-quality can mean a lot of things to different viewers. For some, if your images aren’t good, they think your product won’t be good. What are we getting at here? Well, your website can look amazing, but if none of the words on the page make sense, design and call to action doesn’t mean a thing and it won’t help you gain clients. This goes for e-commerce stores, blogs, or service-based businesses that have a website. If a visitor sees a red flag on your website, they will leave. It’s that simple.
Therefore, we want to make sure anyone who is visiting your site turns into a raving fan, almost like an ambassador for your brand. In the hopes that they will eventually become a client, buy your products, sign up for your coaching program or whatever it is you want a client to do when they come to your site.
Here are five signs viewers look for:
1. Ensure you have the proper website connection
What do we mean? Credibility. Credibility. Credibility. Without credibility viewers might not think your site is trustworthy and in turn will be hesitant to buy what you are selling or get on board with your brand. One way that your viewers can determine if you are a credible site right off the bat is by looking at your website URL. When creating a domain for your new website be sure that you get an SSL certificate. An SSL certificate ensures your site starts with ‘https:’ which will immediately alert your viewers that they are going to a secure site. Without this certificate and the ‘https’ viewers will be presented with a browser asking if they really want to advance to this not secure site. This is not good for various reasons; most importantly they might decide you are a fraud and might be iffy on working with you. And you just lost a customer.
2. Have user-friendly navigation
Your viewers shouldn’t struggle to find what they are looking for on your site; which means you need to know what the goals of your site are before you create it. Don’t focus on trying to make it too cutesy. Make sure your navigation bar is not overloaded, that the options for your viewers are limited. For instance, if you are an e-commerce site adding a search bar for your shoppers to look for something specific is a great way to improve your navigation, but only if this is one of your goals for the site; to shop.
In addition, don’t overthink it. If you want to have a contact page, title it ‘contact us’ and an about us page, ‘about us’ instead of ‘get to know us’ or something else. Don’t spend your time trying to come up with something overly creative that might lose your viewers focus or confuse them on where they are about to go.
3. Have clear CTA’s throughout
Every page on your website should have some sort of CTA regardless of what kind of site you have. As soon your page loads for your viewers they should see some sort of call to action. This needs to have a clear mission for each page, as well so your users continue to have a great experience and know what to do next. Without a clear CTA, your viewer may not know how to set up a free first coaching call with you or where to enter their email to sign up for your newsletter and is likely to leave your site without doing what you want them to do.
Be sure you are using concise verbiage and valuable content. If you are a blog, repurpose content from your social media, focus on the details and give examples to support what you are writing about. Providing this type of content shows you are a subject matter expert and will continue to add to your credibility because viewers want to read posts they can trust.
4. Utilize ‘you vs me’ language
When writing the content for your site be sure you aren’t making the site about you. Ensure that the content is geared towards your target market, incorporating you as the solution. For instance, use verbiage like ‘you will achieve X by working with me.’ Utilizing this mindset will also add to your credibility and help you to gain customers.
The trend throughout this entire blog post? Credibility. A high-quality website is centered around establishing credibility and trust with potential customers and you can do this with five simple things. Remember, you want to turn into raving fans not the other way around. If you simply lose your customers by not having a secure connection, creating your site was all for nothing.
