Top 5 Tips To DIY Your Website: Interview with Process For Profit
Small business websites are currently working overtime due to COVID-19.
Not just that, but now that folks have discovered just how important it is to have a digital home-base, websites are once again one of the business essentials you must have.
In this interview, I chat with Brittany of Brittany & Co. about what 5 things you need to consider when DIYing your website.
Top Five DIY Website Tips
Have a goal for your website. Will it be an e-commerce site? Will you sell a membership? What about a service-based site? Then ask yourself, “What ONE thing do I want the visitor to do when they come to my site?”
Tell your website visitor what you want them to do! This is often called a CTA or “Call to Action.”
Know your target market (aka dreamiest of dream clients) better than they know themselves. This will allow you can speak their language and to understand what solution they are really looking for. I.E.: Few people want to get healthy, most want to look HAWT at their high school reunions.
Simplify your branding. Minimize the number of colors used. This will make it easier to know when to use that bubble-gum pink versus 12 other color choices. Choose a personality color and a detail color. Everything else can stay black, white and gray.
Keep a simple, clean font for body copy, (what this text is now) for anything that could need a chunk of reading. Choose a splashy font for headlines.
